Mr. Skewes was a coal mine operator in Southern West Virginia and was instrumental in the areas coal industry in the 1980’s. The Skewes Family Foundation has provided grants to community projects including, but are not limited to, the YMCA, Animal Shelters, Schools, and Local sports clubs throughout Southern West Virginia and Southwest Virginia. Our grants are awarded to community organizations within Mercer County, McDowell County, and Wyoming County in West Virginia; and Tazewell County and Bland County in Virginia. We seek proposals from organizations working in a range of areas, including health, environment, arts, education, and human services.
